While September in New York City means many things to many people (kids going back to school, pools closing, window air conditioner units no longer dripping on you as you walk down the sidewalk) the main thing that it means for fashionistas and Project Runway fans everywhere is that NYC Fashion Week is right around the corner! And with Fashion Week comes September 8th, also known as Fashion's Night Out, when designers, stylists, beauticians, and cosmeticians invite you to sample their wares for free or for a large discount, often while sipping on something lovely!

Here are some of FNO’s 2011 participants, in alphabetical order (all events take place on September 8th unless otherwise noted):
Assouline – The Plaza, 59th Street and Fifth Avenue, Lobby Mezzanine
7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Sip a Cabana Cachaça Caipirinha while sharing a samba with a Carnaval dancer, as Assouline celebrates FNO with the author of Brazilian Style, Armand Limnander and designers Carlos Miele & Alexandre Herchcovitch. RSVP to events@assouline.com
BITE Beauty – Sephora 711 Lexington Ave (Between 57th and 58th Streets), 6 – 11 p.m.
Get ready to take a BITE out of the Big Apple after a complimentary session with one of BITE Beauty’s professional make up artists. Get a sneak peek of products coming to Sephora this fall, and as an added bonus, the first 1,000 people to purchase a BITE product at this event will receive a free gift.
Blanc de Chine and China Grill Celebration – Blanc de Chine, 673 Fifth Avenue at 53rd Street, 6:00- 8:00PM
Toast to Asian-inspired Blanc de Chine’s Fall 2011 Collection with champagne and a tasting menu by China Grill. Enter a raffle to win a luxurious travel blanket.
Boyfriend Fragrance – Sephora Times Square 6pm-7pm and Sephora 5th Avenue 8pm- 9pm.
Kate Walsh created this fragrance after breaking up with a boyfriend. Missing his scent, she went to a fragrance counter and bought a man’s fragrance and realized, “Wait a minute, you don’t need a boyfriend to have a Boyfriend!” Slip on a red dress and go to Sephora, where you can sip champagne and meet Kate Walsh while being schooled in your perfect shade of red with complimentary lip color applied by the experts at Sephora.
Caudalie – Sephora, 5 Times Square, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Patrons of the beauty brand will have a chance to try their INSTANT PERFECTING regimen at from 6 p.m.- 11 p.m. featuring all-star products, including the Luxe Premier Cru Eye Cream, brand new Vinoperfect Day Perfecting Fluid and beloved Beauty Elixir. From 7 p.m. – 9 p.m., guests will get styled by uber-chic Caudalie Co-Founder Mathilde Thomas and photographed in a Film Noir-esque photo shoot, by Caudalie Co-Founder and photographer Bertrand Thomas.
Caravan – SKY ROOM, 330 West 40th Street between 8th & 9th Avenues, 8pm – 11pm
You can join the stylists of Caravan at the Skyroom, where there will be special performances, rotating DJs, MAGNUM Super Premium Ice Cream, amazing cocktails, and a pop-up store featuring NY Designers such as Walter, Boy Meets Girl, Ann Yee including a full DEMETER fragrance library and more.

Guess? and NYX Cosmetics – 575 Fifth Avenue, 537 Broadway and 514 Broadway, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m.
NYX Cosmetics will be giving touch-ups and mini-makeovers as you’re given a sneak peek into this fall’s fashion and beauty trends.
Karen Millen and UNITE – VOGUE’s FNO, 114 Prince Street, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Stop by Karen Millen and get a “Stylist Session” with a head-to-toe makeover with wardrobe from Karen Millen and hairstyling provided by a UNITE specialist. Post-makeoverees will be invited to have their photograph taken and entered into a contest to win a Karen Millen shopping spree. The first 30 customers to arrive at the Karen Millen store will receive a free gift from UNITE and one lucky fashionista will win a piece from the Karen Millen 30th Anniversary Collection!
Kusmi Tea – 1037 Third Avenue, 10:30 a.m. – 10 p.m., Sockerbit Candy Store, 89 Christopher Street, 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
To celebrate Fashion’s Night Out, Russo-Parisian Kusmi Tea will be handing out samples of one of their Wellness Teas, Detox (Lady Gaga’s favorite) with every purchase. From 4 – 7 p.m., shoppers who spend more than $35 will receive a complimentary hand massage by an expert from Molton Brown, the British skincare specialists. At the Sockerbit Candy Store, you can sip Kusmi’s Iced Strawberry Green Tea while listening to DJ-spun tunes.
LOEHMANN’S – 101 Seventh Avenue, 6:30 p.m., 2101 Broadway
Loehmann’s, the nation’s first upscale off-price apparel retailer, will be holding its first ever runway show at its flagship store in Chelsea, hosted by celebrity stylist Felix Mercado, at 6:30 and then again at 7:30, featuring 25 different outfits put together from Loehmann’s famous “Back Room” collection of high-end designer collections. Refreshments will be served and wine provided by Little Black Dress Wines. Also, both the Chelsea and Upper West Side stores will be holding Designer Sample Sale with Oscar de la Renta, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni, Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, Etro and others in the house!
MAC Make-up – This coveted brand will be showing its face at several places around town:
Bergdorf Goodman, Beauty Department, 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. – Shoppers who purchase a CND Effects set of four dazzling polishes ($40) receive a FREE Shellac manicure service, while supplies last.
